Health Guarantee

At Bells British Shorthair, the health and wellbeing of our kittens is extremely important to us.

All kittens leave our care having received three veterinary health checks and are desexed, microchipped, vaccinated and parasite treated. They also leave with their pedigree papers and kitten pack.

DNA Testing/Health Screening:

All parent cats in our breeding program undergo DNA health screening through Orivet for relevant inherited conditions and blood type. 

PKD (Polycystic Kidney Disease) - Negative/Clear

ALS (Autoimmune Lymphoproliferative Syndrome) - Negative/Clear

14-Day Health Guarantee:

Every Bells kitten comes with a 14-day health guarantee from the date they go to their new home.

If your kitten becomes unwell during this period, please contact us and seek veterinary advice promptly.

The guarantee covers a serious infectious disease or congenital condition diagnosed by a registered veterinarian during the 14-day period that is reasonably expected to significantly affect the kitten's health or life expectancy.

Any claim must be supported by veterinary documentation.

If a condition covered by our health guarantee is diagnosed, we will work with the family to determine an appropriate outcome. Depending on the circumstances, this may include offering a replacement kitten of suitable quality when one is available, or a partial or full refund as determined by us.

The guarantee does not cover accidents, injuries, misadventure, illness resulting from inadequate care, or conditions that develop or are diagnosed outside the 14-day period.

While we take every care to breed healthy kittens, no breeder can guarantee that a cat will remain free from illness or disease throughout its lifetime.

If your Bells cat develops a significant health, genetic or hereditary condition later in life, we would greatly appreciate you letting us know. This information is important to us and may help guide our future breeding and health decisions.

Knose Pet Insurance - We've purchased a Knose Pet Insurance policy and your kitten is already protected with their award winning cover!

For additional peace of mind, every Bells kitten leaves with complimentary Knose pet insurance. The first two months are on us. To ensure protection, you just need to transfer the policy into your own name.

To take advantage of the 2 month prepaid period, you must transfer the policy into your name within 30 days of the policy commencement. If you don't, the policy will be cancelled and you'll miss out on the prepaid insurance. 

If you have indictated you're interested in the policy, you'll receive an email confirmation from Knose once your details are passed on. They will let your new kitten settle in at home and in a few days time you'll receive a transfer instructions email from Knose explaining what to do next, with details of cover and the deadline for transfer.
